'Harry Potter' Author J.K. Rowling to Give Evidence in Phone-Hacking Inquiry

Arrested in Phone-Hacking Inquiry Murdochs Summoned to Appear Before MPs in Phone-Hacking Inquiry Rowling, Miller and Grant will be one of a group of celebrities, politicans, sportsmen and members of the public who have been selected to give evidence about their experience of press intrusion, many of whom have been victims of phone-hacking by The News of the World and potentially other newspapers. The Leveson Inquiry was set up by British Prime Minister David Cameron in the wake of the phone-hacking crisis at Rupert Murdoch's News International. Its remit is to look at the broader issues of media ethics and practices, including the relationships between newspapers, the police and politicians that have been central in the News International criminal investigation. Other witnesses will include Gerry and Kate McCann, the mother of missing toddler Madeline McCann, the parents of murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler and PR expert Max Clifford. Institutions including News International, the Metropolitan Police, Guardian News & Media and Associated Newspapers will also be called later into the inquiry. A separate criminal inquiry is ongoing into a criminal activity at News International, where 16 former executives and staff have been arrested.
